Comparison

Wazapi vs Umbler Talk: flat or per-agent pricing, and which AI sells more?

Short answer: with three or more people on the inbox, Wazapi costs less (Pro at R$ 259 with 5 operators, against a R$ 449.70 floor on Umbler Talk's Impulso plan) and ships more sales tooling — a WhatsApp store, a CRM that requires an outcome when a chat closes and an MCP server. Wazapi's native AI (co-pilot, per-message sentiment, autonomous agent) sits on Business, at R$ 699 with 10+ operators. Umbler Talk fits small teams that want a ready-made AI agent at the lowest price, with no API key, and anyone who needs webchat or already runs Pipedrive, Asaas or RD Station.

Platform overview

What is Wazapi?

Wazapi is a customer service, automation and sales platform for the official WhatsApp Business API (Meta Cloud API), Instagram Direct and Facebook Messenger, built for Brazilian companies. Launched in 2024, it combines a team inbox, a visual flow editor, a kanban CRM, a WhatsApp store and an AI layer that runs from an agent-side co-pilot to an autonomous AI agent with a knowledge base.

Pricing is public and per plan, not per seat: Starter R$ 149 (2 operators, QR code), Pro R$ 259 (5 operators, official API, CRM, store and MCP server) and Business R$ 699 (10+ operators, native inbox AI, autonomous AI agent, voice calls, multiple numbers). Billing is monthly with no lock-in and no setup fee, and the 14-day trial needs no card. Meta fees are passed through at cost, and AI runs on your company's own OpenAI key with a monthly spending cap.

What is Umbler Talk?

Umbler Talk (uTalk) is the WhatsApp service platform from Umbler, a Brazilian company known for hosting, e-mail and domains. It offers a shared inbox, a CRM with a visual pipeline, a flowchart chatbot, AI agents, campaigns and webchat. Its product page names clinics, schools, accounting firms, internet providers, real-estate agencies and manufacturers as target customers.

Billing is per agent: Essencial R$ 99.90 (minimum 2), Impulso R$ 149.90 (minimum 3) and Escala R$ 219.90 (minimum 3), as listed on the official site in September 2026. AI agents and official-API templates draw on separate prepaid credits: each credit is worth R$ 1.00 and expires after 60 days.

Chatbot and automation

Both platforms have a visual flow editor, and Umbler Talk's is mature: single and multi-conditions, weekdays and hours, a webhook call that returns variables, forms, agent presence and native Pipedrive and Asaas blocks. The catch sits in the official plan table: on Essencial the builder ships with basic blocks only. Conditions, hours, free-text input, webhooks and contact fields arrive with Impulso — so a bot that qualifies leads starts at R$ 449.70/month (3 × R$ 149.90).

On Wazapi, flows and sequences are unlimited from Starter, including data capture, conditions, buttons, lists, tags, CRM stage and business hours with holidays and named schedules. The HTTP request block comes with Pro. Every flow can be run in the in-browser simulator before going live, with variables written as {{vars.field}}.

What moves conversion most is what happens when the customer goes off script. Wazapi accepts a number, approximate text or a tap as an answer, re-asks a limited number of times, handles taps on old cards and recognises phrases such as 'talk to a human' at any point. The customer is never trapped in a menu, so the lead reaches a person instead of giving up. We found no equivalent handling described in Umbler Talk's documentation; it is worth testing that scenario during its 7-day trial.

AI in service and sales

Umbler Talk's AI agent is a genuine strength. It is on every plan, needs no API key and is set up in three steps: profile (sales or support; neutral, formal or casual tone), behaviour (intents that trigger flows, up to 10 mandatory conversation stages for sales, a reply limit before human handoff) and training with Q&A, websites and documents. From Impulso it can query Google Calendar, Google Sheets and external REST APIs. There are two tiers, Standard and Expert, and reports compare human and AI agents side by side.

The cost has three layers. Every agent reply consumes credits (R$ 1.00 each, valid for 60 days, no auto-renewal); the exact consumption per message is not published in the help centre. The underlying language model is not disclosed. And the documentation states that virtual agents count the same as human ones: the AI agent takes one of the plan's seats.

On Wazapi, AI starts with the human agent rather than the bot. On the Business plan, every inbound message gets real-time sentiment (you see an upset customer before replying), the co-pilot drafts a reply in context, and once a chat closes the quality analysis produces a score, dimensions and a coaching report per agent. Voice notes arrive transcribed on any plan, with your own OpenAI key. We found no co-pilot, sentiment, transcription or AI quality analysis in Umbler Talk's public documentation.

Wazapi's autonomous AI agent also lives on Business (R$ 699). It uses a knowledge base with hybrid search over text, FAQs, files, URLs and your store catalog (which re-syncs on its own), reads images, applies tags, fills fields and moves CRM stages within an allowlist, batches message bursts and stops on its own when a human takes over. Usage runs on your OpenAI key with no mark-up and a monthly cap that blocks or alerts. The MCP server, already included in the mid plan, lets Claude, ChatGPT and other agents operate the workspace with the user's permissions. The honest trade-off: you have to create the OpenAI key, and all native AI requires Business. For a small team that arithmetic favours Umbler Talk: 2 agents + 1 AI agent on Essencial is 3 × R$ 99.90 = R$ 299.70/month plus credits, against R$ 699 plus OpenAI usage. Business only becomes cheaper from 7 seats on Essencial (7 × R$ 99.90 = R$ 699.30) or 5 on Impulso (5 × R$ 149.90 = R$ 749.50). Details at /ia.

Sales, CRM and conversion

Umbler Talk has a CRM with a visual pipeline (up to 5 pipelines on Impulso, unlimited on Escala), labels, campaigns and scheduled messages. Custom fields start at Impulso. The product page lists integrations with RD Station, HubSpot, Pipedrive, ActiveCampaign, Hotmart, Asaas, Calendly, Google Sheets, Meta Ads and Make — if your funnel already lives in one of them, that shortens the path. One thing to check during the trial: the pricing page promises a 'CRM with visual pipeline' on Essencial, while the help-centre table marks the contact board as unavailable on that plan.

Wazapi treats WhatsApp as a complete sales channel. The kanban CRM has funnels per group and a close policy that can require a CRM stage when a conversation is closed: no chat ends without a recorded outcome, and the manager knows how many conversations became sales. The WhatsApp store publishes your own storefront with variants, stock and shipping; checkout completes on WhatsApp, the order shows up as a card inside the conversation, and automation fires a post-purchase flow, a payment reminder and status notices. Each order can become a CRM opportunity automatically.

For teams that buy ads, Wazapi stores UTMs, gclid, fbclid and Click-to-WhatsApp data on the contact, the conversation and the order. You can answer which campaign produced the sale, not just the chat. A store, catalog orders and ad attribution do not appear in Umbler Talk's public documentation; the route there would be wiring an external system through webhooks or the AI agent's tools.

Team management

Umbler Talk organises work into departments and teams (up to 3 on Impulso, unlimited on Escala). Automatic lead distribution arrives with Impulso and 'advanced distribution and routing' with Escala; the exact rule is not detailed publicly. There is a global auto-reassignment setting: if an agent goes offline, the chat is released or a chatbot takes over. Permissions can be tuned per agent, with 'advanced permissions' and 'logs and audit' listed under Escala. Reports compare up to 3 agents, AI ones included.

On Wazapi, distribution is round-robin and checks real availability: the agent's status plus presence measured by the dashboard. Someone who closed the tab gets no new chats, so a lead never waits on a person who left for lunch. If an agent stops replying, the conversation is transferred for inactivity. Groups can be private, access profiles are per module, and every person has a performance page with first response (mean and median), resolution time, close rate, volume and, on Business, the AI quality score.

On mobile, neither product has a native app. Umbler Talk's help centre explains how to install a browser shortcut; Wazapi is responsive web. If field service with a store-listed app is a requirement, neither solves it today.

Costs, reporting and channel health

These are two different billing models. Umbler Talk charges per agent and adds prepaid credits for AI and for official-API templates. Umbler's own blog explains that the platform adds the provider fee to Meta's fee 'in a single number' and offers cost tracking by message category. Because credits expire after 60 days, seasonal campaigns mean planning your top-ups.

Wazapi charges a flat fee per plan, passes Meta fees through at cost and shows spend by category (marketing, utility, authentication, service) before the invoice. AI is billed by OpenAI directly to your account, under a configurable monthly cap. The result is predictability: hiring a sixth agent does not change the Business fee, and a spike in AI-agent conversations cannot blow the budget unannounced.

On number health, Wazapi monitors quality, tier and restrictions at Meta, showing the cause and the fix Meta recommends, and protects sends with automatic opt-out (STOP-style keywords), a per-contact marketing frequency cap, deduplication and send pacing. It also supports coexistence: the same number on the WhatsApp Business phone app and on the official API, with history synced. Umbler Talk's official migration tutorial tells customers to delete the phone app account when moving to the API; coexistence is not mentioned.

On reputation: Umbler Talk scores 4.8/5 on Capterra (13 reviews as of September 2026), with praise for the interface and support. The same public reviews mention AI billed separately through credits, a laborious agent setup, limited integrations and maintenance interruptions; public reviews on Reclame Aqui mention instability and WhatsApp-only support. Wazapi, being from 2024, has fewer public reviews — the weekly changelog is the best way to judge the pace of the product.

Note: Umbler Talk prices were taken in September 2026 from a.umbler.com/br/talk and Umbler's help centre. Monthly floors and examples are our own arithmetic (number of agents × price per agent) and exclude credits, Meta fees and AI usage on both sides. For AI, the fair comparison is with Business (R$ 699), because the R$ 259 plan has no native AI: up to 6 seats on Essencial (6 × R$ 99.90 = R$ 599.40) or 4 on Impulso (4 × R$ 149.90 = R$ 599.60), Umbler Talk is cheaper before credits. Support and migration

Wazapi offers chat support on every plan, with priority on Business. When migrating you import contacts by CSV with custom fields, transfer approved templates and get help configuring the number. Because coexistence is supported, you can move a number to the official API without taking WhatsApp Business off your salespeople's phones.

Umbler Talk's support is, according to its help centre, WhatsApp-only and during business hours, backed by tutorials, a community and an academy. Migration to the official API is handled by a dedicated team, does not require a new number, and the company sells an optional implementation service that sets up the account, chatbots and integrations. For a team with nobody technical, that service may be worth its cost.

Who is Wazapi for?

  • Teams of 3 to 10+ people who do not want the bill growing with every hire: R$ 259 covers 5 operators, R$ 699 covers 10+
  • Businesses that sell on WhatsApp and want a store, orders inside the chat, payment reminders and a CRM that requires an outcome at close, all on the R$ 259 plan
  • Managers who want AI helping the human agent and run on Business: per-message sentiment, co-pilot and per-person coaching, plus audio transcription on any plan with your own OpenAI key
  • Companies that watch costs: Meta at cost, AI on your own OpenAI key with a monthly cap, no expiring credits
  • Technical teams and Claude or ChatGPT users: REST API on every plan, webhooks, a Node SDK and an OAuth MCP server

Who is Umbler Talk for?

  • Two-agent operations that want the official API and an AI agent at the lowest floor: R$ 199.80/month on Essencial, with no OpenAI key required, while native AI on Wazapi only comes with the R$ 699 Business plan
  • Anyone who needs webchat on a site or app — a channel Wazapi does not have
  • Companies already on Pipedrive, Asaas, RD Station, HubSpot or Make that prefer a ready-made integration to building over an API
  • Teams with nobody technical who would rather buy implementation and receive the account, bots and integrations configured
  • Buyers who value a well-known brand and a larger body of public reviews before signing

Verdict

Arithmetic settles much of this choice. With 2 agents, Umbler Talk Essencial costs R$ 199.80 and already includes the official API and an AI agent — the cheapest way in, if you can live without the REST API, webhooks and conditions in the bot. From 3 people the picture flips: Impulso starts at R$ 449.70 and rises R$ 149.90 per hire, while Wazapi Pro stays at R$ 259 up to 5 operators and Business at R$ 699 for 10+. The caveat is AI: the R$ 259 plan has no native AI, so anyone who wants AI compares the R$ 699 Business plan with Umbler Talk. Up to 6 seats on Essencial (6 × R$ 99.90 = R$ 599.40) or 4 on Impulso (4 × R$ 149.90 = R$ 599.60), Umbler Talk is the cheaper option; above that, Business wins again.

On features, Umbler Talk has a good chatbot and an accessible AI agent. Wazapi goes further on what turns into revenue: a store and orders inside the chat, ad attribution down to the order, routing by real presence, send protection that keeps the number healthy, costs with no credits expiring and, on Business, co-pilot and sentiment so agents answer better and faster. Its limits are equally clear: no webchat, no native app, AI that needs your own OpenAI key, and native AI (co-pilot, sentiment, autonomous agent) only on Business.

If your team lives on WhatsApp, has three or more people and measures success in sales, start with Wazapi's 14-day trial, no card needed (it runs on the R$ 259 plan, without native AI), and compare it with Umbler Talk's 7 days using the same scenarios. See the plans at /precos.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wazapi better than Umbler Talk?

For teams of three or more that sell on WhatsApp, in most cases yes: Pro costs R$ 259/month with 5 operators, the official API, CRM, a store and an MCP server, against a R$ 449.70 floor on Umbler Talk's Impulso. Wazapi's native AI (co-pilot, sentiment, autonomous agent) sits on Business, at R$ 699. Umbler Talk is the better fit for small teams that want an AI agent with no API key (from R$ 199.80/month) and for anyone who needs webchat.

What is the best alternative to Umbler Talk?

If you are leaving because of per-agent pricing or credits that expire after 60 days, Wazapi is the direct alternative: flat pricing per plan (R$ 149, R$ 259 or R$ 699), Meta fees at cost and AI billed on your own OpenAI key with a monthly cap (native AI comes with Business). It also adds a WhatsApp store, a kanban CRM and an MCP server. If you depend on webchat, check first: Wazapi covers WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

How much does Umbler Talk cost compared with Wazapi?

As of September 2026 Umbler Talk charges per agent: Essencial R$ 99.90 (min. 2), Impulso R$ 149.90 (min. 3) and Escala R$ 219.90 (min. 3), plus R$ 1.00 credits for AI and templates. Wazapi charges per plan: Starter R$ 149, Pro R$ 259 and Business R$ 699. For 5 agents on the official API: 5 × R$ 149.90 = R$ 749.50 on Impulso, against R$ 259 on Pro. If AI is the goal, the Wazapi number is Business (R$ 699), because the R$ 259 plan has no native AI.

Can I migrate from Umbler Talk to Wazapi?

Yes. You import contacts by CSV with custom fields, transfer your approved templates to Wazapi and get help configuring the number. The 14-day no-card trial lets you build your flows and validate the operation before switching off the current platform.

Does Umbler Talk use the official WhatsApp API?

Yes. Umbler Talk offers two channel types: 'Starter', over QR code, and the Business API (Meta's official WhatsApp Business API), and both can run in the same account on different numbers. Its own help centre warns that on the QR code channel, messages received while the account is disconnected do not show up in the chat. On Wazapi, QR code is the Starter plan and the official API starts at Pro.

Which has the better AI for customer service: Wazapi or Umbler Talk?

They are different propositions. Umbler Talk gives you an AI agent on every plan with no API key, paid through credits and occupying an agent seat. Wazapi concentrates native AI on Business (R$ 699): AI for human agents (per-message sentiment, co-pilot and quality analysis with coaching) and an autonomous agent with a knowledge base, image understanding and CRM actions, all on your OpenAI key with a spending cap. Audio transcription works on any plan with your own key. For a small team, the Umbler Talk agent is cheaper.
